I had an Awakening this week. I was helping at a youth outreach complete with messy games and lots of sub woofers. Students went up front to sing the worship songs and the older--I mean, "adults"--lined the back.

The whole thing really took me back.

I realized how much I miss watching students commit their lives to live for Christ.
I realized how deeply annoyed I get with the modern church.
I realized how many people it takes to do something big; and how big of a difference one person can make.

But most of all, i realized how much I love my family at Dialogue. It's so easy to take our Thursdays and Sundays for granted. The work of creating and planning and studying and setting up can become a big distraction until it's easy to actually believe that that is dialogue church.

I need more than that...

I need to sit down next to the people that I love and drink a cup of coffee and wonder at the mystery of God.
I crave the intimacy that only comes by enduring trials together.
I want to know more than your name--I want to listen to your stories.
I want to laugh together.
I need a church that doesn't care if I cry.
I need dialogue church.

I am praying that we share the beauty that is dialogue church with our community; and that God would use dialogue to create an awakening.

I think the challenge to love people more than I ever thought I could has really been an awakening experience for me at Dialogue. I have always wanted to value people as they are, but at Dialogue, it was the first time where I was really challenged to see people in the same light and with the same grace that God sees them.

I came to Dialogue through a recommendation. My youth Pastor [Nathan] at my old church knows Ryan and told me to find him. It took 3 months after I moved, but finally we arrived and fell in love with Dialogue's mission. I remember walking up to Jamie and saying... I'm looking for Ryan, do you know who he is? In retrospect that's hilarious now. And the first time I went, Ashlee sang How He Loves, and I cried and cried. Also, Jessica introduced herself and told me that Ryan had said that 'some family with a daughter that has a lip piercing is coming.' [I'm glad that's Nathan's only way to describe is the girl with a lip piercing... :P]

Like all my Dialogue adventures, my first was humorous and an awakening experience.
